Helgesson Hall

by: Isaac Banner

introduces moves: figure 8, down the hall, up the hall

formation: improper

A1 8
gentlespoons allemande left 1½
8
partners swing
A2 8
circle left 3 places
8
neighbors swing
B1 8
ones half figure 8 below and step into a line of 4 across
8
down the hall and ones turn as a couple (twos turn alone)
B2 8
up the hall and bend into a ring
4
balance the ring
4
partners California twirl ⁋

A1 allemande feels more like once and a quarter, but it's notated here as once and a half since gentlespoons do cross the set.

I haven't tested it, but you should be able to alternate with the twos doing a half figure 8 up through the ones and going up the hall to start. The half fig. 8 plus the turn as a couple in the center just cancel each other out and going up the hall to start should end with the twos above the ones before the California twirl.

I don't know why Cary insists on publishing the other Jubilation var. as his authoritative take on the original Gene Hubert dance -- who on earth wants to chain with their current neighbors and then immediately whip around to balance their next neighbors?

Cary, if you're reading this, put this version back on your website. It rocks and I call it all the time.
